About The Artist

Benjamin Ratterman is an American Illustrator from the Midwest of Michigan. He specializes in digital illustration with a focus on characters and portraits.

He earned his BFA from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design in 2022, majoring in Illustration.

Benjamin’s most important influences come from late 19th and early 20th century illustrators and painters like Rosa Bonheur, Edwin Landseer, Norman Rockwell, and Jules Cheret. Other areas he pulls from include major artistic movements like Art Nouveau and cultures like Asia and the United States.

He primarily works in two major disciplines, with his painting style being more naturalistic and the pencil & ink style being more fluid and abstract.
